Originally a brush manufacturer established in 1812, Arden Winch & Co Ltd now provides head-to-toe Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a complete range of corporate, work, and sportswear uniforms. They can apply embroidery and heat-sealed logos to almost any garment using their 50 embroidery heads, three compression heat-seal machines and DTF/DTF UV printers, which produce 1,000 logos per day. As low-energy consumers, they were unsure if they would benefit from the Energy Challenge. Could they yield the same results as the other SMEs involved? As it turned out, the challenge gave them so much more.
“After many years in the business, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you've seen and done it all”, said Steve Barker, MD. “The mentor collaboration has reminded me there is always more to learn. There is always another perspective. And actually, there is a lot of value in stepping out of the day-to-day and looking at your business through a different lens. Tasha is proof of the emerging talent in the region and shone a new light on how we can work."
"Peer-to-peer networking and knowledge sharing are the biggest wins for this challenge. If we unite as a region and collectively commit to this cause, we could transform it into a beacon for sustainable practices." - Steve Barker - Managing Director, Arden Winch & Co Ltd
"This challenge has allowed us to take big business thinking around net zero and apply it to the needs of SMEs in an achievable and manageable way." - Tasha Lyth - Sustainability Manager, Gripple
In addition, the Energy Challenge has triggered further collaboration for both organisations, not just to drive sustainable practices but to stimulate broader conversations and learn from each other.
