Concrete relics “An Archaeology of modern British culture”
Concrete Relics traces an archaeology of modern British identity, not the history but of the present everyday.
The project re-imagines the objects of working-class culture as future artefacts, their forms fixed in brutalist concrete, like their meanings suspended between nostalgia and permanence.
In the act of making, the concrete sculptures are immortalised; the performative becomes forever. Nikes 95s, sovereign rings, and other tokens of street life are fossilised, offering a quiet resistance to cultural erasure.
Concrete Relics is a cultural reflection presented through a medium rarely seen in this context.
With Just over two weeks to go till the exhibition launch @factoryfloorbar Thursday 27th November from 7pm Music from @truefiction will be going through the era’s playing UK dance classics across the genres.
