Film screening: Master of Light

Join Sheffield Libraries and Sheffield DocFest this Black History Month for a screening of Master of Light, winner of the First Feature Competition at DocFest in 2022.

Sentenced to eleven years in prison for dealing drugs, painter George Anthony Morton used this time to hone his artistic skills.

On his release, he struggled against a mainly white cultural landscape, forging his own style and vision. When he returns to his home in Kansas City, he faces ghosts from his past.

A vital story of systemic racism, trauma, healing, art and creativity. This is a community impact screening in partnership with Sheffield DocFest.

The film will be introduced by a speaker from DocFest.

As this film does not have an official BBFC age classification, attendees should be over 18.
