From Nottingham an exciting new voice in UK jazz and fusion, pianist Lucas Walters is influenced by the likes of McCoy Tyner, Ahmad Jamal, Stevie Wonder Robert Glasper, Ashley Henry and Yussef Dayes, playing driving music with an emotional force, blending rich jazz harmonies with upbeat tempos; cinematic and contemporary, yet rooted in tradition. A BBC Young Jazz Musician semi-finalist Lucas has worked with musicians including Tony Kofi, Gary Reader, and Benjamin Luhis, and his trio includes Jack Benjamin (bass) and Jamie Sykes (drums). With a mix of original compositions and new versions of well-known songs, and a commitment to pushing musical boundaries, Lucas' personal soundscape really draws you in. Definitely a musician making waves, he's appeared at festivals and venues across the UK, including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Future Movers, Peggy's Skylight, the Leeds Jazz Festival, Leeds Emerging Artist Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Green Island Festival, Dubrek Studios, and Hyde Park Book Club.
