On Saturday 27 September, Sheffield’s streets will come alive with the sound of clashing sticks, jingling bells, and live music as around 1,000 morris dancers descend on the city for a spectacular Day of Dance.
To mark the 50th anniversary of The Morris Federation, dance teams from across the UK will join local organisers Sheffield City Morris, Pecsaetan Morris and Five Rivers Morris for a full day of high-energy performances in locations across the city centre.
This is your chance to experience the joyful chaos and living tradition of Morris dancing up close – from the precise steps of Cotswold sides to the driving rhythms of border and North West Morris.
Expect brilliant costumes, booming accordions, and a uniquely British celebration of community and folklore. Sheffield is a renowned hub for Morris and folk arts, and this event puts the city firmly at the heart of the national scene.
Whether you’re a folk fan or just fancy something different on your Saturday in town, come and soak up the atmosphere – no tickets or booking required.
Performances will take place around the city centre - see event website for full programme.
