Step into a sonic world of gentle grooves and shimmering ambience as Professor Chill brings his unique blend of electronic music and sound science to the Samuel Worth Chapel.
A longstanding figure on the chill-out scene, Professor Chill is both an accomplished electronic producer and a qualified sound scientist. Unlike his fictional counterparts Professor Green and Plum, his title is real – earned through a pioneering academic career and the first ever PhD awarded for writing popular music.
His music draws on a wide spectrum of influences; from Leftfield and Brian Eno to Groove Armada and Deep Forest, creating uplifting, immersive soundscapes that have captivated audiences at festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Boom, Anthropos, and CTM.
Beyond performance, Professor Chill is also a writer, academic and cultural commentator, exploring the connections between music, ritual and spirituality.
His work has been praised by artists and critics alike:
“Beautiful and intelligent chilled out electronica” – DJ Magazine
“Extraordinary… like music from another planet” – The Arts Desk
“Sublime” – Iggy Pop
“Fantastic chilled out tunes” – Craig Charles
This performance promises a captivating ambient soundscape – part live show, part immersive journey in one of Sheffield’s most atmospheric spaces. Check out Professor Chill here: YouTube, Facebook and Bandcamp.
