The Cross Scythes opened as a pub in 1818 by Samuel Hopkinson, a local farmer and scythe maker. Today the pub continues to support local farmers, brewers and fresh produce suppliers.

Bringing elevated pub dining, featuring a seasonally changing menu and weekly specials focusing on freshly cooked local produce sourced within Sheffield and The Peak District.​

The drinks menu focuses on a quality selection of premium draught keg and local cask ales, a carefully curated wine list, innovative cocktails, and locally roasted coffee by Castleton Coffee Co.
