Business Sheffield is here to support retail and hospitality business on each of our 40 local high streets. 

Meet our team of Business information officers. They are six successful business people in their own right with years of experience across a broad range of sectors. They understand the highs and lows of running a business and what the reality has been for businesses during the pandemic. Each Officer has a set of neighbourhoods – nowhere in Sheffield is missed out – and they visit their patches every week or two, going door-to-door to speak to business owners and make sure they have what they need.

At the start, they were helping businesses adapt to COVID regulations, remain viable and apply for Government grants. This was invaluable in making sure that all businesses had equal access to crucial information and support, especially those where the first language wasn’t English or where there was no access to digital communications.

And now the team- Roger, Alan, Dan, Esther, Sally & Simon are still on hand to give more specialised advice to help businesses solve day-to-day issues, stay ahead of the curve and adapt to changing conditions. They’ve produced a series of recorded High Street Recovery webinars to help businesses respond to the ways consumer habits have changed through COVID, and sharpen their techniques in selling, building relationships with customers, increasing footfall and other vital skills. 

They’ll work with businesses on anything they’d like some support with, from re-thinking their layout and displays to catch customers’ eyes, to managing cash flow, working through legal documentation or finding creative uses for unused space. They’re also brilliant at supporting joined up working between businesses and Council departments, helping them to understand one another, asking the right questions and providing the right information to ensure the best outcomes for both parties.

High street businesses are the beating heart of our local areas, catering for communities and making us proud to live where we do. We are here to help businesses continue their vital role in those communities.
