Sheffield has a strong rep for street food, yet another indicator of the city’s thriving independent scene. Beyond designated street food destinations like food halls, Cutlery Works, Kommune and Sheffield Plate, and the legendary monthly Peddler Night Market, you’ll also find a host of amazing foodie delights in smaller diners, bars and pubs across the city.

From juicy burgers and crispy fried chicken to burritos and boa buns, not forgetting some indulgent vegan delights too, read on for some of the city’s street food highlights…

Street food kitchens across the city

While food halls offer an array of vendors to peruse in one place, there are plenty found in smaller venues too, serving tasty street food style dishes out of their kitchens packed with flavours from around the world.  

Street Food Chef

One of the pioneers of Sheffield's street food scene! Street Food Chef's burritos are a firm favourite with many in the city. 

Slap and Pickle

Awesome burgers! Find them at Happy's Bar in Neepsend and at The Dark Horse micropub up at Banner Cross, on Ecclesall Road, 

Get Wurst

Serious German street food with proper currywurst, banging bratwurst and serious schnitzels! After a successful residency at Two Thirds, you can now find Get Wurst in Sheffield Plate.

Boa Mesters

Specialists of soft steamed boa buns stuffed generously with a range of tempting fillings such as chicken karaage or gyu beef. From the same team behind Edo Sushi you'll find Boa Mesters serving from SALT Sheffield's kitchen in Kelham Island. 

Terrace Goods

Serving pizza, Nashville hot chicken, poutine and more from their suntrap cocktail terrace, above Orchard Square in Sheffield city centre. 

Clapping Seoul

An authentic Korean-owned food vendor, specialising in fusing homemade Korean dishes with street food styles, you'll find Clapping Seoul serving at SteelYard Kelham and regularly popping up at Honey and Fig.

Twisted Burger Co.

Keeping it independent and delicious, Twisted Burger Co. have been serving award winning burgers in the heart of the City since 2011. You'll find them at Triple Point Brewery

Lucky Fox

Famous for their fried chicken and waffles! Lucky Fox brings an American-style diner vibe to Sheffield's Division Street, without the cheesy 1950s cliches. 

Vegan Street Food

While plenty of places now offer veggie/vegan options, there's a couple of street food kitchens in Sheffield that really excel in this field. 

Humpit

One for falafel fans! Humpit have been based in Sheffield City Centre since 2016, serving their signature warm pitas, falafels, hummus platters and colourful salads. Expect to queue around lunchtime, but it's worth it. 

Church Temple of Fun

Owned by Oli Sykes, frontman of band Bring Me The Horizon and a passionate vegan, Church is a 100% vegan bar and restaurant in Kelham Island, serving up loaded waffle fries, hot dogs, burgers and more.

Dumpling City

One of Sheffield's best kept secrets according to Creative Tourist, Dumpling City have earned "phenomenal word-of-mouth among vegans, vegetarians and omnivores alike"! They don't just serve dumplings either, but offer a wide range of delicious Chinese and East Asian-inspired small plates. Find them at The Old Workshop in Kelham Island and The Tramshed in Meersbrook.

V or V Grill House serve up veggie and vegan kebabs & small pates, championing locally sourced vegetables to recreate tasty Middle-Eastern flavours. Look out for them serving at many of the Sheffield's market events.
