Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet is a unique eighteenth century industrial works and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, made up of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.
Originally called Abbeydale Works, the site was once a producer of agricultural tools and the largest water-powered industrial site on the River Sheaf. The main products of the works were agricultural scythes, but other edge tools were made too, such as grass hooks and hay knives.
Here you can see the Manager's House and Worker's Cottage, waterwheels, workshops, tilt hammers, a grinding hull, steam engine and the last complete surviving crucible steel furnace in the UK.

Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet has been restored and transformed following a 3 year £1million Heritage Lottery Funded restoration project completed in 2016.
2020 marked the hamlet's 50th anniversary as a museum.
The site has a café and gift shop.
Abbeydale Hamlet is a working site and therefore has rough and uneven surfaces, and some of areas are only accessible by steps.
