Once a predominantly industrial district of Sheffield, Kelham Island was home to numerous cutlery and steel works, but its regeneration over the last decade has seen the area transform into a thriving hub of incredible independent restaurants, pubs and bars.
Kelham Island Food Tours have teamed up with some of the best places to eat and drink in the area to offer you a true taste of independent Sheffield, along with fascinating insights along the way. There are three different tours available.
The Taste of Kelham Island Tour is the ultimate long lunch! Starting at 12pm on Saturdays, you will be taken on a culinary journey of the area, visiting a range of vibrant eating establishments and enjoying generous samples at each stop.
The Kelham Food and Beer Tour focuses on the strong beer scene in the area. Kelham Island is famous for its real ale pubs and this tour visits a selection of these, while sampling some of the brilliant beers brewed in Sheffield and pairing it with food tastings from some of the great local producers.
Kelham Island History and Brunch Tour will give you a fascinating insight into the industrial heritage of Sheffield. This 3-hour history tour starts on Mowbray Street at 11am on selected Sundays, ending with a delicious brunch in Neepsend.
A desire to find and sample the best places to eat and drink in Sheffield led to the idea of Kelham Island Food Tours.
Established by Sophie Barber in January 2019, the tours now offer a unique way to experience the food and drink on offer in the area, go behind the scenes and meet the people behind the businesses.
Sophie and her colleagues are passionately committed to providing guests with a fun and memorable experience, whilst championing the independent food businesses in the area and helping put Sheffield on the map as a foodie destination.
Their popular flagship tours A Taste of Kelham & the Kelham Food & Beer tour run every Saturday and are open to the public (12 places per tour).
