Richard Caborn, Parliamentarian

Sheffield makes me proud.

I’ve lived in Sheffield all my life and started work in the steelworks as an apprentice engineer. I moved into politics and represented Sheffield as an MEP for 5 years and an MP for 27 years, including Minister for Sport. I’m still very active in the city today.

That's largely because of my belief in the people, the distinct economy of strong manufacturing and good public institutions, such as the two universities and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, plus access to some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK.

I am lucky enough to also be Chair of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park and Advisor to the Leader of Sheffield City Council.
