Sheffield's annual festival celebrating books, words and ideas! Off the Shelf is one of the UK’s largest literary festivals.

Every October the festival brings the biggest names in local, regional, and international literary talent, media and the arts to South Yorkshire.

Now in its 33rd year, the 2024 edition of the festival is set to take place 7 October - 3 November 2024, presenting one of their biggest, most ambitious and diverse editions yet.

They'll be hosting over 80 live and online events across the city, with big names including Sara Pascoe, Richard Ayoade, Julian Clary, Jackie Kay, Asako Yuzuki, David Nicholls and David Olusoga.

Other highlights in the programme include, much-loved broadcaster and columnist Adrian Chiles, viral political campaigning group Led by Donkeys, dancer and TV personality Wayne Sleep, novelist and playwright Kate Kerrigan, politician and member of the House of Lords Baroness Warsi and historian Robert Gildea with a groundbreaking new history of the miners strike to mark the 40th anniversary.

The festival is delivered by the University of Sheffield and pulls together a vibrant and diverse programme playing host to around 80 live and online events across the city including household names. 

It is also supported by Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Hallam University
