This event is sponsored by the Sheffield Social Enterprise Network and is part of the Festival of Social Enterprise in Sheffield, a citywide celebration of innovative businesses and organisations that put people and the planet before profit.
Why? We have big plans for this new site, where we'll invite schools in areas of higher deprivation to take part in a programme of nature-based learning and activities for children that will create and enhance habitats for wildlife.
By taking part in our Green Kids project, children (and teaching staff) will learn skills to enjoy and support nature in new and exciting ways. Thank you to the land guardians Mark and Sarah for their support.
Please wear suitable clothing for staying warm, and for possible wet weather. We strongly advise wearing sturdy, waterproof shoes such as walking boots or wellies. All equipment will be provided.
Refreshments provided will be hot and cold drinks, and biscuits. Please bring a reusable cup if you can, and a pack lunch if you're staying for the duration of the event.
The address is Townfield Head Farm, Stannington, Sheffield, S6 6GR Please use this Google maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GmrYEU8LKQkfkvoc7 or What3Words: ///tables.veal.churn
There is limited parking on the site (enough for approximately 8 cars) so we please encourage you to car share. They will provide a shuttle from Malin Bridge tram car park, collecting at 10.30am, and returning at 2.30pm.
Please let the event organiser know if you need a lift from here.
By bus: The site is tricky to reach by the number 81 bus to Stannington - the nearest stop is Church Street with a 15-minute walk to the site from there.
There are toilets on site. Please note, this event is taking place on farmland, so all participants are advised to be aware of the dangers this may bring and to keep to specified areas/paths. Some of the ground is uneven, and also wet and muddy, depending on the weather. The site is not currently wheelchair accessible (we hope to change this in the future). Some of the activities are heavy duty so we highly recommend you only partake to the extent of your capabilities. We want everyone to feel welcome at our events. If you have additional needs or anything that you'd like to discuss beforehand, please don't hesitate to get in touch. If you have any questions before you book, please email Anna@KidsPlantTrees.Org or call 07746 806034. They look forward to seeing you there!
